Review: M.A.P. Splash Safe Sandals

Pros

  • Easy for the children to get on and off by themselves
  • Comfortable for a multi-hour outing
  • Stay on in rigorous conditions
  • Vibrant colors inspired by nature are adored by children
  • Lightweight and fast drying

Cons

  • High back on the Niagra Pink girl’s shoe rubbed against Nyla’s heel and the by the end of the day she had a hot spot that would turn to blister with more wear (not all their shoes have such a high back)
  • Not available at all retail stores so you can’t try them before purchasing

Bottom line

Worth checking out as an alternate to Keen and Teva water shoes! Especially true if your children have trouble getting their other shoes on and off.

Review

I love hearing about new – and useful – products that help facilitate my kid’s adventures. M.A.P. shoes recently reached out to me to see if we wanted to try out some of their shoes and we were pretty excited to see their gear!
Today, my children tested out a pair of Niagra Pink and Emmons Fisherman Sandal water shoes. Here’s the Emmons Fisherman Sandal – stunning colors:
We tubed the North St. Vrain Creek at LaVern Johnson Park in Lyons, Colorado – a beautiful setting with a new Whitewater Park for kayakers and tubers. The quarter mile horseshoe shape park has eight features that are spread out nicely with big pools and eddies. It’s an incredible park that I highly recommend!
This was perfect conditions for testing out water shoes. The creek was flowing at about 190 cfs, which is a healthy current for young ones. As we traveled downstream, children periodically flipped, were rescued, jumped, swam, and splashed. At one point we floated past a flip flop with no owner in sight and I was happy to glance over and see my children’s shoes were still on tight.

M.A.P. is an acronym for motion, adventure, play – which  resonates with my values and those I’m working to instill in my children.

The Emmons Fisherman Sandal has become my son’s go to already. My daughter will probably stick with her Tevas unless we get her a pair of M.A.P. shoes with a low cut back.

M.A.P. shoes has a wide range of kid’s outdoor footwear, geared towards different environments and seasons. Check them out online on their website mapshoes.com.

I was provided free samples of these shoes.
